CHOICES: The Struggle Within – An Original Poem

ChoicesThroughout our life we are faced with many choices, and some of those choices can create a struggle within us that almost seems unbearable. When I find myself in that space, it helps me to write; especially poetry. The solace it brings me can often provide some much needed clarity. With that being said, I would like to share what has been on my mind of late.

 CHOICES – An Original Poem

Struggling to make choices, answers nowhere to be found

Opinions, options, voices, closing in from all around

Yes I can, No I can’t, I don’t know what to do

Listening to others can sometimes offer clues

It can also be confusing, and lead you down a path

That isn’t filled with your desire, but often full of wrath

The only choice that is truly right for this journey that you walk

Is the one you will manifest out of positive self talk

Be kind and gentle with yourself as you come to terms with things

For the choices that you make in life don’t have to come with strings

An amazing thing will happen once the decision is made

No more doubts, no more worries, no more being afraid

Inner peace is soon to follow which will affirm the deed is done

Stand confident in your choices, there is no need to run

Let not yourself be swayed, or steered in a way unbefitting

Self respect is valuable and definitely worth getting

As life continues one thing is certain, more choices will come to pass

How you handle each of these shall be a testament to your class

So let the struggles go, simply let the answers be

Our time on earth is a precious gift, a great commodity

Spend not your life in turmoil, or living with false pride

You my friend are special, and have no reason to hide

When life has past, and that time will come for each and everyone

The impact of our actions will be a reflection of what we’ve done

I ask you now to make a choice and therefore stop the juggle

Right or wrong, left or right, you can’t keep up the struggle

The Struggle Within Is A Matter Of Choice

Now that my thoughts have taken on a life of their own, it has become quite clear that the struggle within is a matter of choice; and this choice can only beChoices conquered if one chooses a life of fulfillment rather than a life of confusion. This does not mean that you shouldn’t take time to pause and think before acting, but it is critical that you do not ponder the answer too long before moving in one direction or another.

So the next time you find yourself in an obscure situation, wondering which way to turn; think back on the words in this poem, and remember that as long as you remain true to yourself … the answers are sure to come. This will allow you to feel confident in your choices, and help you move forward on your journey.

“I GOT IT”…Three Simple Words Speak Volumes

I got it”three simple words that speak volumes.  Watch and become inspired by the sheer determination, and zest for life this exceptional two year old boy demonstrates.

His name is Kayden Kinckle, and I have to admit every time I watch this video I am in awe of this amazing little boy. With each step and chant of three simple words…I got it, you can feel and hear his determination and zest for life. To be so young, yet so inspiring in the face of adversity is magnificent.

“I GOT IT” Attitude…

Kayden was obviously born with an I Got It” attitude,  along with a rare birth defect that caused him to become a double amputee at a very young age.  He has undergone numerous surgeries in his short life, with the most recent in January 2014 to remove his right foot and left leg due to an amI Got It Attitudeniotic band being wrapped around both legs while still developing in the womb.  This hasn’t stopped Kayden’s spirit from shining bright though, as this little man took his first steps using prosthetics just six months later.

I cannot impress upon you enough the importance of Kayden’s attitude.  His strength and courage to continue moving forward (both literally and physically), no matter what the circumstances says a lot about this little boys character.  He is also providing much needed emotional support for his family; especially his mother without evening being aware of this special gift.
