Declaration of Independence – Listen and Reflect

As we celebrate the 4th of July, also known as Independence Day in the United States of America, I thought it only fitting to share this video of the Declaration of Independence.

While listening to these words it occurred to me this document could have been written during present times. In fact, many events that are taking place today seem to mimic those that took place so many years ago as people continue to fight for their rights.

Second Sentence In Declaration of Independence Is Powerful

Perhaps one of the most powerful and standout statements in the Declaration of Independence is found in the second sentence, and reads as follows:

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.


When these words were written in 1776, I feel certain the intent was to ensure a brighter future for everyone … without exclusion; but as the years have passed much has changed … and definitely not all for the better.

My hope is that some  day  soon we wake up as a nation, remember why the Declaration of Independence was written … and join forces in an effort to turn things around. After all, our founding fathers put everything they had on the line to ensure this would be the greatest nation on earth.
